IE-FLUIDS

Industrial and Environmental Fluid Dynamics Research Group

The site is under construction. In the meantime you can get more information here.

IE-Fluids develops and uses state-of-art numerical models for the analysis of fluid dynamic processes of interest to industrial and environmental applications.

The analysis is carried out by using very innovative numerical tools, based on the solution of the unsteady and three-dimensional equations governing the fluid motion and the transport of scalar fields (temperature, concentration of pollutants, salinity etc.).

Turbulent mixing is reproduced using the Large-Eddy simulation technique. Geometric complexity is handled by means of a very innovative merging of curvilinear coordinates and immersed boundary methodology. This allows obtaining very accurate results not dependent on the empirical choice of relevant parameters (such as the turbulent diffusivity for the dispersed phase).

The numerical tools are continuously updated according to the most recent progresses in the field.
